Banky Foiben'i Madagasikara introduced the first of a new family of notes with the following denominations. The four larger denominations were issued on 17 July 2017, to be followed by the four smaller denominations on 18 September 2017. The theme remains “Madagascar and its Riches,” including economic activities, biodiversity, culture, and tourist sites. All the notes will have tactile geometric features for the sight-impaired, zebu head watermarks, security threads, and iridescent stripes.
